Conservation Proposal
Naturalist Guide- Forquer
Endangered Karner Blue Butterfly
Vision for a Sustainable Future
Here is the class survey response I sent:
I am Andy Forquer, a third year Environmental Studies / Public Policy undergrad from Southern California. I am interested in this course in order to fulfill my science requirements as a ES major, as well as having a general interest in conservation ecology. Perhaps my most relevant past research has been in conducting a CBA of soy-subsidies in order to reduce funding for conventional methods in order to fund organic soy, (analyzing yield losses, and potential benefits, as well as creating a timetable for transitioning farmers). Other research has been in Climate Change policy both domestically and internationally. Last quarter I also wrote a paper on Israeli water policy, and water politics in general in the middle east. I don't have much experience with praries, and have done most of my outdoor experience sailing on the west coast, and hiking in the cascades and sierras- in which you do encounter a few prarie like grasslands meadows. (but that may be bastardization of ecology terms- I'm not really sure).

Nice to hear! and welcome to the class. The Soy and water stories seem great, want to post them under a past work page? i'd be interested to have a look at those important issues!
